The Ripple Effect of Empowering Others 2

***Guest Post by Nicole Crangle of Galatians Five Thirteen***

I recently had the pleasure of working with the talented Nicole Crangle, owner of www.galatiansfivethirteen.com. She told me an amazing story of encouragement and empowerment that I am going to share with you all. Sometimes we all lose our way and get behind on our dreams and goals. But if we have the right people in our lives we can overcome any obstacle that is thrown our way. Here is Nicole’s story.

The Ripple Effect of Empowering Others

A beautiful Sunday afternoon out to lunch with our business mentors – Kelley and Jennette – turned into a life-changing experience with one question from Jennette to me, “Where do you see your business at the end of this month?”

I froze. I didn’t expect much. It was three days before our deadline. I fumbled over an answer about our progress on our goal for the month. I had been discouraged about where our business was at, but I knew in that moment that I had to kick into action and take some serious ownership.

These are people that matter to us in the most precious way because of how they’ve been an example and served us and believed in us every step of the way. They are friends, mentors, business partners, and everything in between to us. They have a big calling on their lives to help others. And honestly, Jennette believes in me more than I do myself most days. Likewise, her husband plays the same role to my husband. My husband and I truly want to make this couple proud.

When I finally got my less-than-stellar answer out, Jennette just looked at me and said, “That’s great! We see you hitting the goal! Let’s do this.” I was surprised. Her response to my awful answer woke me up. Lit a new hope in my heart. And they promptly whipped out a notepad and began to draw out our team and how we would hit the goal.

I was energized, I was excited…and as they showed us the vision, I believed we could do it. Just seeing it on paper made all the difference and everything became clear and vivid! Jennette spoke to me about a winning mentality, and believing in people, and how to pull together as a team. She shared her experiences in the past and spoke to me of what I’m capable of. I could suddenly see myself and our business through her eyes.

I felt…empowered. I felt like I could accomplish anything, and certainly our goal! This is a woman who knows how to bring out the best in me. This is a woman who shows me what she sees, rather than telling me what to do. She asks questions, rather than answering them. That’s where empowerment lies, in the confidence someone else has in you.

Her confidence in me that day empowered me in several ways:

  1. My mentor encouraged me to think through obstacles and tackle them on my own.
  2. She gave me the grace to figure out that I’m capable of so much more, even when I feel stuck.
  3. Lastly, she inspired me to go and do the same thing for other ladies on my team that she did for me.

I am proud to say that we did, in fact, accomplish our monthly goal, with only three days left in the month! It was exhilarating, to say the least. And so many people on our team hit their own goals and benefited from the decision we made that day to refresh and go after our goal!

I’ll always go back to her belief in me when I feel my weakest. When I need that extra “oomph!”, I’ll go back to her confidence in me. And one conversation with Jennette makes me feel like I can do anything and help anyone!

That’s what empowerment does, it creates the most beautiful ripple effect in the lives of the women around us.

Nicole and her husband own a web-based marketing company and help to run an entrepreneurship and personal development mentorship program in the Orlando, FL area. They believe in helping people find freedom in their lives – personal, financial, and spiritual – so that they can better help and serve others according to their calling and what will make the greatest impact, rather than on what finances or self-image allow.
